A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COACH CECIL HINDS FOR HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS THE HEAD COACH OF THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS SOCCER TEAMS.

     WHEREAS, Madison Central High School Boys and Girls Head Soccer Coach, Cecil Hinds, has realized unprecedented success as the high school soccer coach for the Jaguars, winning seven state soccer titles in only four years and developing the young girls and boys into strong, determined individuals; and

     WHEREAS, a native of the beautiful island of Trinidad, Coach Hinds graduated with high honors from Presentation College High School, as he was not only named the Valedictorian of his class but was also named Captain of his school's championship-winning soccer team and awarded the title of Sportsman of the Year for all of Trinidad; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Hinds officially became a resident of the beautiful Magnolia State when he moved to Mississippi in 1995 to continue his education at Belhaven College where he attained soccer stardom for the Blazers and as the lead defender for two years with the Jackson Mississippi Chargers, a team in the United States International Soccer League; and

     WHEREAS, due to his stellar performance on the soccer field and the unbelievable way he could sprint down the field to block a game-winning shot, Coach Hinds was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Association's Defensive Player of the Year in 1997, and in 2000, his academic success and future were not to be overshadowed by his athletic prowess, as he was awarded the United States Achievement Academy All Star Scholar Award by Belhaven College and was named to the National Dean's List; and

     WHEREAS, since his defender days in college, Coach Hinds, who develops champions both on and off the field at every program for which he coaches, has been winning titles and donning state championship rings since he began his coaching career, when he led the Northwest Rankin High School Boys Soccer Team to victory at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State Championship in 2000, 2003 and 2008, and coached the Gulfport High School Boys Soccer Team to a win at the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 6A State Championship in 2010; and

     WHEREAS, the focused, resolute and detail-oriented Coach Hinds exponentially influences each of his players with his determination, ambition and intellect, despite being a man of few words, and his elite status in the soccer profession is truly exhibited through the many Mississippi Soccer Association Division I Championships he has secured for the Mississippi Rush, Mississippi Fire and Houston Dynamo clubs; and

     WHEREAS, in addition to the numerous Mississippi Soccer Association championships Coach Hinds has procured through his immense leadership ability and natural flair for success, he has also coached several Mississippi Rush and Mississippi Fire Premier teams to victory at the US Club Soccer Regional Championships, and

in 2007, he led the Mississippi 94 Boys Olympic Development Program Team to an impressive undefeated season in Region III; and     WHEREAS, numbers do not lie, and the following honorable soccer organizations have awarded a liberal number of Coach of the Year awards to Coach Cecil Hinds for his winning records, professionalism and passion for the game, a testament of the true value that he not only provides to each team but to the game of soccer:  the Mississippi Soccer Association in 2005, 2007 and 2014; the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in 2011 and 2014; The Clarion-Ledger in 2013 and 2015; the National Federation of High Schools in 2013; the Mississippi Association of Coaches in 2014; MS Preps in 2015; and the Positive Coach Alliance in 2014, who selected Coach Hinds out of 1,700 nominations to receive the Double-Goal National Coach Award; and 

     WHEREAS, for the past four years, Coach Hinds' encouragement and positive influence on each player has exponentially benefited the boys and girls soccer teams at Madison Central High School, who have each received high honors and national recognition from MaxPreps, The Clarion-Ledger, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and TopDrawerSoccer FAB 50, and the players genuinely revel in the time and effort he dedicates to making each of them better than they were the day before, as they can absolutely feel the care for their overall well-being and the faith in their unique abilities that he possesses for each one of them; and

     WHEREAS, while Coach Hinds is the proud father of his eleven-year-old daughter, Brianna Marie, the nurturing presence he has in each of his players' lives has proven to be an irreplaceable enrichment with each passing day, as he has transformed each of them into the championship caliber athletes they are today, broadened their knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution and equipped each of them to realize their full potential, reach their goals and achieve greatness; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the selflessness and benevolence of fine Mississippi educators, especially those such as Coach Cecil Hinds, an exhilarating combination of proficient soccer expertise and sincerity who radiates excellence and inspires all those who have the opportunity to learn and flourish under his tutelage to be better than the day before:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Cecil Hinds for his many accomplishments as the Head Coach of the Madison Central High School Boys and Girls Soccer Teams and his numerous impressive triumphs in the soccer profession, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Cecil Hinds, Madison Central High School Athletic Director Brad Peterson, Madison Central High School Principal Austin Brown, Madison Central High School Assistant Principal Jay Harrison, the Madison County School Board and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
