Senate Bill 2029

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 43-13-117.7, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT THE DIVISION OF MEDICAID FROM REIMBURSING OR PROVIDING COVERAGE FOR GENDER TRANSITION PROCEDURES FOR A PERSON OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 43-13-117.7, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

     43-13-117.7.  (1)  Notwithstanding any other provisions of Section 43-13-117, the division shall not reimburse or provide coverage for gender transition procedures for a person under eighteen (18) years of age.  As used in this section, the term "gender transition procedures" means the same as defined in Section * * * 2 of this act 41-141-3.

     (2)  The division shall not reimburse or provide coverage for gender transition procedures for a person over eighteen (18) years of age.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2024.
