AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTION 97-29-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH CREATES THE MISDEMEANOR OFFENSE OF BECOMING THE NATURAL PARENT OF AN ILLEGITIMATE CHILD FOR THE SECOND OR SUBSEQUENT TIME AND WHICH REQUIRES MONTHLY REPORTING OF OUT-OF-WEDLOCK BIRTHS BY THE STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO THE DISTRICT AND COUNTY ATTORNEY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 97-29-11, Mississippi Code of 1972, which creates the misdemeanor offense of becoming the natural parent of an illegitimate child for the second or subsequent time and which requires monthly reporting of out-of-wedlock births by the State Health Department to the district and county attorneys, is repealed.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
