Senate Bill 2414
AN ACT TO REQUIRE EACH INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY OR PLAN, POOLED RISK POLICY OR ANY OTHER FORM OF MANAGED/CAPITATED CARE PLAN THAT IS DELIVERED OR RENEWED ON OR AFTER JULY 1, 2025, TO OFFER COVERAGE FOR ANY NONSTATIN MEDICATION THAT HAS A UNIQUE INDICATION TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A MAJOR CARDIOVASCULAR EVENT IN PRIMARY PREVENTION AND SECONDARY PREVENTION PATIENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) Any individual or group health insurance policy or plan, pooled risk policy or any other form of managed/capitated care plan or policy regulated by the State of Mississippi that is delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed on or after July 1, 2025, shall offer coverage for any nonstatin medication that has a unique indication to reduce the risk of a major cardiovascular event in primary prevention and secondary prevention patients.
(2) The benefits provided in this section shall be subject to the same annual deductibles or coinsurance established for all other covered benefits within a given policy.
(3) The Commissioner of Insurance shall enforce the provisions of this section.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2025.
