Senate Bill 2444
AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE TO STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF PHASING OUT AND ELIMINATING THE IMPOSITION OF AD VALOREM TAXES ON ALL PROPERTY IN THIS STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The Department of Revenue shall study the feasibility of phasing out and eliminating the imposition of ad valorem taxes on all property in this state.
(2) On or before January 15, 2015, the Department of Revenue shall transmit its written report of the feasibility study to the Legislature, along with its recommendations and an estimate of the fiscal impact of the recommendations.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
