AN ACT TO CREATE THE "MISSISSIPPI NONPROFIT TRANSPARENCY ACT"; TO REQUIRE A STATE AGENCY, DEPARTMENT, OR INSTITUTION TO ANNUALLY REPORT ALL NONPROFIT CORPORATIONS THAT RECEIVE GRANTS, SUBGRANTS OR CONTRACTS DERIVED FROM STATE OR FEDERAL FUNDS TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) This section shall be known and may be cited as the "Mississippi Nonprofit Transparency Act.
(2) Each state agency, department, and institution, not later than October 1st of each year, must provide an annual report to the Office of the Secretary of State of all nonprofit corporations that have received subgrants or contracts involving state or federal funds from said agency, department, or institution in the most recent fiscal year.
(3) The Secretary of State must provide the names of and amounts awarded to nonprofits by each state agency, department, and institution to the Office of Workforce Development and to the Senate Economic Development and the House of Representatives Workforce Development committees by December 31 of each year.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023, and shall stand repealed on June 30, 2023.
