Senate Bill 2835

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF JONES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRACT WITH THE JONES COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT COUNCIL FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The Board of Supervisors of Jones County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contract with the Jones County Volunteer Fire Department Council, a Mississippi nonprofit corporation, to:

          (a)  Receive and disburse insurance rebate monies paid to Jones County by the Mississippi Department of Insurance.

          (b)  Receive and disburse tax revenue from the Board of Supervisors of Jones County to the various volunteer fire departments of Jones County.

          (c)  Adopt minimum operating standards for the volunteer fire departments of Jones County.

          (d)  Require each volunteer fire department of Jones County to comply with minimum operating standards for receiving any funds from Jones County.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
