Senate Bill 2835

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF GRANT FUNDS AVAILABLE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL OF EDUCATION TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF ENROLLING AND EDUCATING TEACHERS FOR ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES AND PRINCIPALS IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS LOCATED IN THE COUNTIES BORDERING THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2014; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1.  In addition to all other sums heretofore appropriated, the following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any grant funds available to the University of Mississippi School of Education not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of defraying the expenses of recruiting, enrolling and educating teachers for advanced placement courses in school districts located in the counties bordering the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and for the purpose of recruiting, enrolling and educating principals for schools in school districts located in the counties bordering the Mississippi Gulf Coast as determined necessary by the State Department of Education and the Mississippi Principal Corps, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. $2,000,000.00

     SECTION 2.  The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the proper fund or funds as set forth in this act, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
