AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ANY COUNTY OR THE GOVERNING AUTHORITY OF ANY MUNICIPALITY TO UTILIZE SHERIFF OR POLICE ESCORTS, RESPECTIVELY, WHEN SCHOOL ATHLETIC TEAMS TRAVEL TO ATTEND SCHOOL-RELATED ACTIVITIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The board of supervisors of any county, in its discretion, or the governing authority of any municipality, in its discretion, may authorize the use of sheriff or police escorts, respectively, for school athletic teams who travel to attend school-related activities. The escorts are authorized within or outside the county limits or municipal limits of the county or municipality. Immunity for activity under this section is subject to Section 11-46-1 et seq.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from an after July 1, 2020.
