Senate Bill 3102

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF PETAL, MISSISSIPPI, TO PROVIDE A REDUCED RATE FOR WATER AND SEWER SERVICES THAT ARE PROVIDED TO THOSE WHO ARE 65 AND OLDER AND TO CERTAIN MILITARY VETERANS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The governing authorities of the City of Petal, Mississippi, is authorized, in its discretion, to establish a separate reduced rate for water and sewer services provided by the city to the following:

          (a)  Individuals who are sixty-five (65) years or older; or

          (b)  Individuals who are service-connected, totally disabled American veterans who were honorably discharged from military service.

     (2)  The reduced rate authorized in this section may only be provided after an individual has presented proper proof of eligibility.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
