AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF DESOTO COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS FOR ROAD PROJECTS, AS DEFINED HEREIN, THAT MAY EXTEND BEYOND 30 DAYS FROM THE TERMINATION AND END OF THE TERM OF OFFICE OF SUCH BOARD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) As used in this section, "road projects" means the Holly Springs Road (Phase 1), Nail Road Extension, Craft Road Widening and Improvement, Swinnea Road Extension, Starlanding Corridor Widening, Alignment and Improvement, and Road Overlay Projects, all as have been identified by the board of supervisors.
(2) Notwithstanding the provision of Section 65-7-95 that prohibits contracts for the working, construction, reconstruction and maintenance of the public roads of a county from extending beyond thirty (30) days from the termination and end of the term of office of the members of the board of supervisors awarding it, the Board of Supervisors of DeSoto County, Mississippi, may enter into all necessary contracts to complete the road projects, including, but not limited to, contracts which extend beyond thirty (30) days from the termination and end of the term of office of the board of supervisors awarding it.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
