(As Adopted by Senate and House)

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE CIVIC LEADERSHIP OF TED MOLL OF TUPELO, MISSISSIPPI, AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2016 AMERICAN RED CROSS HUMANITARIAN AWARD AND EXTENDING THE BEST WISHES OF THE LEGISLATURE.

WHEREAS, we join the City of Tupelo and the American Red Cross in recognizing Ted Moll as the recipient of the 2016 American Red Cross Humanitarian Award; and

WHEREAS, Ted Moll was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  He attended high school in Fairview Park, Ohio, and graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Ted started working for Modern Tool and Die Company (MTD) full time in 1965, following completion of a tool and die apprenticeship.  In 1972, he and his family moved to Indianola, Mississippi, where he was named Manager of Modern Line Products.  In 1989, they moved to Tupelo, Mississippi, when MTD acquired a competitor, Aircap Industries.  He considers the move to Tupelo his greatest move; and

WHEREAS, Ted currently serves as Chairman of the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and is involved with Resource Development for the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Mississippi.  Ted has served on the board and several committees of Renasant Bank and served as a Trustee at Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, which is an historically Black Methodist College.  Ted has been associated with the Community Development Foundation for more than 20 years where he served as Chairman and Board Member.  He has also served on boards and committees for the Boy Scouts, United Way and First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Ted resides in Tupelo and has been married for 50 years to his high school sweetheart, the former Lynn Roberts, also of Cleveland, Ohio.  They have two daughters, Laura Knight and Erin Foster, and five beautiful grandchildren.  Ted and Lynn are active members of First United Methodist Church in Tupelo; and

WHEREAS, the Red Cross is where people mobilize at times of disaster to help their neighbors — down the street, across the country and around the world.  Our state and nation depend on the Red Cross in times of need, and the Red Cross depends on the support of citizens to achieve their mission.  Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Red Cross is empowering people to perform extraordinary acts and to provide hope where and when it is needed most; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we acknowledge the enormous civic energy of this public-spirited citizen of Mississippi who is a wonderful example of dedication to his community and state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize and pay tribute to the civic leadership of Ted Moll of Tupelo, Mississippi, as the recipient of the 2016 American Red Cross Humanitarian Award and extend the best wishes of the Legislature.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Ted Moll, forwarded to the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of North Mississippi, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
