A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OUR LADY ACADEMY (OLA) GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND COACH STEVE REBOUL FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS CLASS I STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
WHEREAS, the Our Lady Academy (OLA) Girls Volleyball Team, coached by Steve Reboul, Mike Meyers and Rick Rechtein completed another outstanding season in 2009; and
WHEREAS, they had a 28-8 record this year, won their 10th consecutive Division Championship, and won the Class I State Championship for the 4th consecutive time and 6th in the last 8 years; and
WHEREAS, in 2010, Kristy Schmitt led all girls in the state with 515 kills. She will leave Our Lady Academy as the all-time kills leader with 1201; and
WHEREAS, what this team has accomplished this year, as well as the past few years, is significant; and
WHEREAS, the 2009 (OLA) Girls Volleyball Roster consisted of the following girls: Seniors, Kirsty Schmitt and Mischa Tice; Juniors, Erin Gibson, Renee Hotard, Callie McNally and Kelly McLeod; Sophomores, Caroline Collins, Reagan Huey, Kristen Morel, Christy Parnell and Blake Stefano; and Freshman, Katherine Gargiulo; and
WHEREAS, Our Lady Academy is an all-girls college preparatory junior/senior high school which teaches Catholic Christian doctrine, morals and values; promotes academic excellence; encourages the students to give service to others; and challenges them to achieve their God-given potential as young ladies in the local and world communities. Our Lady Academy is the only all-girls' school in the State of Mississippi. Located on the beach in Bay St. Louis, Our Lady Academy educates approximately 270 students from Harrison and Hancock Counties; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the special accomplishments of these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Our Lady Academy (OLA) Girls Volleyball Team from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and Coaches Steve Reboul, Mike Meyers and Rick Rechtein for their outstanding 2009 season and for winning the MAIS Class I State Championship for the fourth consecutive year, and extend to the team, coaches, staff, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Steve Reboul and Principal Sue Goggins, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
