A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING DESOTO COUNTY SCHOOLS FOR WINNING THE 2012 STATE CHEER CHAMPIONSHIP IN SEVERAL CATEGORIES.
WHEREAS, congratulations are in order for several DeSoto County schools after the December 2012 State Cheer Championship in Jackson. For these athletes, the competition was worth the culmination of months of choreographing, rehearsing and preparing for that one day; and
WHEREAS, Hernando High School Cheer Team won their division, the Small Varsity, and defeated Neshoba Central and Columbia. Captains for the team were Kristen Day and Caitlin Stark. The rest of the team included Darby Estes, Cory Cook, Kendall McCallum, Victoria Sanders, Haley Wingo, Abby Cook, Kara Underwood, Abbey Morgan, Kellyanne Martin, Lindsey Chun, Maddi Lambert, Zoe Karaminas, Whitney Staley, Tori Beth Jenkins and Anna Carver; and
WHEREAS, Lewisburg High School's Cheer Team also won in the Medium Varsity Division, with the Team of Kalya Lunamand, Shelby Fitch, Marley Whittington, Lexie Hunter, Katelyn Allen, Lizzy Kuntz, Paige Suroviak, Mckensie Billingsley, Amber Russel, Hannah Delillie, Tomie Chase, Mary Alexis Wigley, Mackenzie Bennett, Samantha Lunamand, Beth Clarke, Grayson Dunning, Kenzie Porter and Morgan Postelle. They out cheered Southeast Lauderdale High School and Purvis High; and
WHEREAS, DeSoto Central High School's Cheerleading Squad placed second in their division, Large Varsity Co-ed. Southaven placed third in their division, the Small Varsity Co-ed; and
WHEREAS, Championship Coaches are Assistant HHS Cheer Coach Courtney Stubbs, Choreographer Coaches David Schuch and Sydney Wilson, and Head Cheer Coach for Hernando, Jamie Erickson; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these outstanding young student athletes who have brought honor to their school's, their communities and the State of Mississippi.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize DeSoto County Schools for winning the 2012 State Cheer Championship in several categories, and extend our best wishes for future success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to the appropriate Desoto County Cheer Coaches and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
