A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE 24 YEAR DISTINGUISHED CAREER OF MRS. MARY ALICE BUSBY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS CIRCUIT COURT CLERK OF LAFAYETTE COUNTY.

     WHEREAS, Mary Alice Busby, daughter of Wilise Foster and the late Cordis Foster of Lafayette County, Mississippi, will celebrate her retirement as the Circuit Court Clerk of Lafayette County on December 31, 2011, after 24 years of dedicated, professional service to the citizens of the county and the State of Mississippi; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Busby is a lifelong resident of Lafayette County who attended Lafayette County schools and graduated from Yocona High School; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Busby worked 24 years at First National Bank before winning her bid to become clerk, and she used her experience as a banker to help serve the people well as circuit clerk; and

     WHEREAS, not only has she been active in her service to her community through her occupation as a public servant, Mrs. Busby has also been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, Mississippi, and is a past member of the Pilot Club; and

     WHEREAS, during the course of Mrs. Busby's years with the Lafayette County Circuit Court, she earned recognition for her professionalism, confidence and proficiency, was honored as Lafayette County's Favorite Elected Official numerous times, and received more votes countywide than any other officer in Lafayette County; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Busby's brother, James Michael Foster, is also retiring this year from his service to the county as Superintendent of Lafayette County Schools; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her career, she has been supported by her family:  husband, Jarvis Busby; three children:  Jeffrey, Jan Busby Marsh and Jill Busby Tyler; seven grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends; and

     WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we acknowledge the stellar career of this public servant whose selfless service has allowed the Circuit Court of Lafayette County to make great strides in helping the citizens of the county:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby recognize the 24-year distinguished career of Mrs. Mary Alice Busby on the occasion of her retirement as Circuit Court Clerk of Lafayette County, Mississippi, and express warmest wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Mrs. Mary Alice Busby, forward to the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
