A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING COOPER CONNER OF WIGGINS, MISSISSIPPI, ON BEING SELECTED AS THE 2021 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI OVERALL "YOUTH ATHLETE OF THE YEAR."
WHEREAS, Cooper Conner of Wiggins, Mississippi, is the 2021 "Youth Athlete of the Year" for the 30th Annual Installment of the State Games of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, based on the national program, the State Games of Mississippi awards were created to celebrate and recognize Mississippi's amateur athletes by nominations from coaches, officials, athletes, volunteers, and spectators who choose one male, one female and one youth athlete who personify the ideals of participation, sportsmanship, special attributes, achievements, efforts and positive attitudes of the State Games movement; and
WHEREAS, on March 25, 2023, the 2021 and 2022 State Games of Mississippi Athletes of the Year visited the Capitol and were presented in front of the Mississippi House Representatives and Mississippi Senate. The athletes also got a special visit with their Representatives and Senators from their respective counties; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this Mississippi athlete as its "Youth Athlete of the Year," who has brought honor to his community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Cooper Conner on being selected as the 2021 State Games of Mississippi Overall "Youth Athlete of the Year," and express best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Cooper Conner and made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
