A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OUR LADY ACADEMY (OLA) "LADY CRESCENTS" VOLLEYBALL TEAM FROM BAY ST. LOUIS, MISSISSIPPI, AND HEAD COACH EMILY CORLEY FOR WINNING THEIR THIRD-CONSECUTIVE CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the "Lady Crescents" of Our Lady Academy in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, were looking for their third State Championship in a row and 17th overall as they played against Belmont at AE Wood Coliseum at Mississippi College on October 17, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the "Lady Crescents" fell short in the first set and refused to relive that feeling again; and
WHEREAS, after fighting tooth and nail each and every set, the "Lady Crescents" have done it again by sweeping the final three sets. The Our Lady Academy Volleyball Team are the 3A Volleyball State Champions for the third-consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Emily Corley and Seniors Ava Davis and Kinsley Jane Stegall said after hoisting their third State Championship Trophy in a row: "We just settled down and played our game. It's always good to be a part of this long tradition and it's awesome to be able to add one to it. This is a really great group of girls and they really deserve this. I'm really proud of them." "It means the world to me," said Senior Libero Kinsley Jean Stegall. "It feels amazing! I really can't describe the feelings that are going through me right now," said Senior Setter Ava Davis. "I give all my glory to God. He brought us all here, including me and my teammates and my coach, and I just couldn't be more thankful to be around these girls and to win it one more time with them for my senior year. It's just incredible!"; and
WHEREAS, the 2024 "Lady Crescents" 3A Girls Volleyball Team Championship Roster: Anna Kate Ivey, Gabby Haas, Taylor Henley, Krissi Pavolini, Myah Favre, Kaylin Kinniburgh, Ava Davis, Kinsley Stegall, Reagan Krebs, Madeline Piazza, Julia Hoffman and Loralai Williford; Head Coach Emily Corley and Assistant Coach Steve Reboul; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Our Lady Academy (OLA) "Lady Crescents" Volleyball Team from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and Head Coach Emily Corley for winning their third-consecutive Class 3A State Championship, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for future championships.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Head Coach Emily Corley for the team, forwarded to Our Lady Academy Principal Jennifer Seymour and the Our Lady Academy Board of Trustees, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
