Senate Resolution 43
A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE TO COACH GLENN DAVIS UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS LONGEST-SERVING HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT COPIAH-LINCOLN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, Copiah-Lincoln Community College announced on October 10, 2024, longtime Head Coach Glenn Davis is retiring after leading the Wolves football program for the last 21 seasons; and
WHEREAS, Coach Glenn Davis is the longest-serving head coach in Copiah-Lincoln Community College's school history, ending his career with a 114-81 record, a MACJC state title, and four seasons as MACJC runners-up; and
WHEREAS, he is the all-time winningest head football coach in Co-Lin history and was selected as MACJC Coach of the Year in 2006, 2014, and 2018, and MACCC South Coach of the Year in 2023; and
WHEREAS, over 250 of his student-athletes went on to sign and play at four-year universities, with several continuing careers in the National Football League; and
WHEREAS, Coach Davis was inducted into the Co-Lin Sports Hall of Fame by the Athletic Alumni Association in 2020; and
WHEREAS, "While we reflect on Coach Davis's time with us, we not only celebrate the success he achieved on the field, but also the integrity and dedication he brought to our entire program," said CLCC President Dr. Dewayne Middleton in a release by the school." His legacy will be remembered not just in victories, but in the countless lives he touched, the character he shaped, and the standards of excellence he set for his players. We are deeply grateful for his years of service, and we wish him all the best in this well-earned next chapter"; and
WHEREAS, Co-Lin will remember Coach Davis, not just for his victories, but for the countless lives he touched, the character he shaped, and the standards of excellence he set for his players. His dedication to his career and the lives of his student-athletes is commendable and he will leave a lasting impact far beyond his time as head football coach:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby extend the congratulations of the Mississippi Senate to Coach Glenn Davis upon his retirement as longest-serving Head Coach at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, and extend to Coach Davis and his family our best wishes for future success as he enters retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Coach Glenn Davis and his family, forwarded to the President and Board of Trustees of Co-Lin Community College and the Mississippi Community College Board and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
