A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the state highway patrol to acquire and operate two rescue helicopters.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  There is appropriated from the General Fund to the State Highway Patrol the following sums for the 2017‑2018 fiscal year:

(1)        The sum of eighteen million two hundred thousand dollars ($18,200,000) in nonrecurring funds to purchase two rescue helicopters, one of which shall be stationed in the Western part of the State and the other of which shall be stationed in the Eastern part of the State.

(2)        The sum of three hundred fifty‑four thousand nine hundred sixty-five dollars ($354,965) in nonrecurring funds to provide training related to the operation and maintenance of the helicopters purchased pursuant to this act.

(3)        The sum of three million three hundred one thousand six hundred thirty‑three dollars ($3,301,633) in recurring funds to provide for the operation and maintenance of the helicopters purchased pursuant to this act. These funds may be used to establish and support positions for this purpose.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2017.
