A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to exempt the department of cultural resources FROM THE UMSTEAD ACT, WHICH PROHIBITS STATE GOVERNMENT FROM ENGAGING IN THE SALE OF GOODS IN COMPETITION WITH CITIZENS OF THE STATE.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 66‑58 reads as rewritten:

"§ 66‑58.  Sale of merchandise or services by governmental units.

…

(b)        The provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to:

…

(28)      The Department of Cultural Resources.

…."

SECTION 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
