A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT authorizing municipalities within wake county to annex areas lying within the municipalities' corporate boundaries.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  In addition to the authority granted by G.S. 160A‑58.54, the governing body of any municipality may annex any area, or part thereof, which is surrounded by the corporate boundaries of the municipality. The procedural requirements of Part 7 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes shall be applicable to any such annexation. The property tax liability of any such annexed area shall be determined as provided in G.S. 160A‑58.10.

SECTION 2.  This act applies to municipalities in the following counties: Wake.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
