A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT to appropriate funds to the department of transportation to support and enhance economic development that is integral to the state's transportation needs.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  The sum of sixteen million dollars ($16,000,000) is appropriated from the Highway Fund to the Department of Transportation for fiscal year 2013‑2014 and fiscal year 2014‑2015, nonrecurring, to expedite commercial growth as well as either job creation or job retention. The funds may not be used for the construction or repair of roads or bridges but shall instead be applied to targeted areas of economic interest that are integral to the State's overall transportation needs. The Secretary of Transportation shall administer the funds appropriated under this section.

SECTION 2.  This act becomes effective July 1, 2013.
