A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT authorizing greene county to levy a vehicle tax not to exceed five dollars for economic development.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 20‑97 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(b1)    County Vehicle Tax. – A county may levy a tax of not more than five dollars ($5.00) per year upon any vehicle resident in the county. The proceeds of the tax must be accounted for separately and may be used only for economic development purposes."

SECTION 2.  This act applies only to Greene County.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
