A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT to clarify that registered sex offenders convicted of certain sex offenses at the federal level or in another state are prohibited from being on certain premises.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
SECTION 1. G.S. 14‑208.18(c)(1) reads as rewritten:
"(c) Subsection (a) of this section is applicable only to persons required to register under this Article who have committed any of the following offenses:
(1) Any offense in Article 7A of this Chapter.Chapter
or any federal offense or offense committed in another state, which if
committed in this State, is substantially similar to an offense in Article 7A
of this Chapter.
…."
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective December 1, 2015, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
