STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen
AN ACT permitting municipalities to reimburse persons who assist applicants in obtaining social security benefits.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Aid to Assisted Persons; Liability for Support and Recovery Over; Payment for Representation Before Social Security Administration. Amend RSA 165 by inserting after section 20-c the following new section:
165:20-d Payment for Representation Before Social Security Administration. If a city or town seeks reimbursement of local assistance from a person’s subsequent supplemental security income (SSI) award or social security disability insurance (SSDI) award, the city or town may use a portion of the reimbursement to pay the person’s representative before the Commissioner of Social Security, provided that the payment is approved by the Social Security Administration pursuant to 20 U.S.C.A. section 406.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect January 1, 2015.
