AN ACT relative to the disposal of sharps waste by retail establishments.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fourteen
AN ACT relative to the disposal of sharps waste by retail establishments.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Chapter; Disposal of Sharps Waste. Amend RSA by inserting after chapter 149-O the following new chapter:
CHAPTER 149-P
149-P:1 Disposal of Sharps Waste; Collection by Pharmacies and Other Retail Establishments. Any pharmacy or other retail establishment that sells sharps to the public shall accept and dispose of sharps waste. In this section, “sharp” means any object used to deliver medicine or provide other medical care that can be reasonably anticipated to penetrate the skin or any other part of the body and result in an exposure incident, including but not limited to, needles, scalpels, lancets, broken glass, and broken capillary tubes.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
