STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty
AN ACT relative to animals in motor vehicles.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Liability Limited; Children and Animals in Motor Vehicles. Amend RSA 508 by inserting after section 12-d the following new section:
508:12-e Liability Limited; Children and Animals in Motor Vehicles.
I. Any person may take action necessary to rescue a child or confined animal endangered by extreme temperatures if:
(a) Law enforcement has been contacted;
(b) A witness is present; and
(c) The individual reasonably believes at the time that assistance will not arrive in time to prevent the serious injury or death of the confined child or animal.
II. No person taking action under this section or under RSA 644:8-aa shall be liable for damage reasonably necessary to rescue the confined child or animal.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
