METHODOLOGY:
This bill requires annual radon testing of every public school (kindergarten through grade 12). Based on information provided by the Department of Education, there are 480 schools with an average number of rooms of 50 each. Assuming this bill takes effect July 1, 2020 and each radon test costs $35, this would increase local school district expenditures by $840,000 per year (480 X 50 X $35). This bill does not contain an appropriation nor obligation of the state to pay for such testing.
