HOUSE BILL 213
AN ACT requiring college courses completed by a high school student to be counted in the student’s grade point average.

This bill requires school boards to establish a policy enabling a high school student who takes a college course for credit to have that credit computed as part of the student’s high school grade point average.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Thirteen
AN ACT requiring college courses completed by a high school student to be counted in the student’s grade point average.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Subdivision; College Course Credit for High School Students. Amend RSA 189 by inserting after section 64 the following new subdivision:
College Course Credit for High School Students
189:65 College Course Credit for High School Students. The school board of each school district shall adopt a policy enabling a high school student in his or her junior or senior year to obtain credit for a course taken at an accredited postsecondary educational institution in which the student earns a ‘C’ average or higher, or its equivalent, provided that the course fulfills a high school graduation requirement. The policy shall require that the college course grade shall be computed as part of the student’s overall high school grade point average.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
