STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Five
AN ACT creating a state holiday to honor Daniel Webster's birthday.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Powers Of The Governor And Council In Certain Cases; Observances Proclaimed By Governor; Daniel Webster Day. Amend RSA 4 by inserting after section 13:dd the following new section:
4:13-ee Daniel Webster Day. The governor shall issue an annual proclamation calling for the proper observance of January 18 as Daniel Webster day; a day to honor and commemorate the life, biography, and oration of Daniel Webster and New Hampshire history. In commemoration of Daniel Webster’s life of historic service to New Hampshire and his country as a lawyer, United States Representative, United States Senator, United States Secretary of State, and respected orator and statesman, schools are encouraged to commemorate the day with appropriate educational activities. The New Hampshire Senate shall be encouraged to read Webster’s “Second Reply to Hayne” speech into the record each year to commemorate Webster’s eloquent oration.
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
