METHODOLOGY:
This bill requires the installation of sound barriers at certain locations along the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Merrimack, New Hampshire. The Department of Transportation states that including design and construction, the sounds barriers required under this bill would cost an estimated $7,200,000. Based upon recent bids and adjustments for inflation, the Department’s standard noise barrier design is estimated to cost approximately $100 per square foot in 2023 dollars. It is estimated that the Roundtree Drive neighborhood sound barrier would cost approximately $3,300,000 (32,890 square feet X $100 = $3,289,000) and the Back River Road neighborhood sound barrier would cost approximately $3,900,000 (39,035 square feet X $100 = $3,903,500).
