Whereas, this attack was unprovoked and killed 34 members of the USS Liberty crew, injured 174 personnel on board, and caused extensive damage to the ship; and
Whereas, in the 44 years since the incident the United States government has accepted the Israeli explanation that the attack was an accident; and
Whereas, as a result of this the surviving crewmembers of the USS Liberty are under restraint from making public the truth connected with the attack; and
Whereas, as a result the crewmembers of the USS Liberty are denied appropriate recognition for their valor in service; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the United States government is urged to make public the results of its investigation into the June 8, 1967 attack demonstrating that the attack was a premeditated and deliberate element of Israeli military tactics and strategy in the Arab-Israeli “Six Day War” of 1967; and
That the United States government is urged to repudiate its acceptance of the Israeli explanation that the attack was accidental; and
That the United States government officially recognize the extraordinary heroic actions of the USS Liberty commanding officer and his crew for their performance under combat conditions in a state of undeclared war with a hostile nation; and
That a copy of this resolution be transmitted by the house clerk to the members of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
