STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT providing a death benefit for a New Hampshire hospital security officer killed in the line of duty.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Title.  This act shall be known as the Bradley Haas Act, in honor of Security Officer Bradley Haas, who was shot while on duty at New Hampshire hospital.

2  Appropriation; Provision of Death Benefit for the Family of a New Hampshire Hospital Security Officer.  The sum of $100,000, the death benefit Security Officer Bradley Haas would have been entitled to under RSA 21-I:29-a had he been a sworn law enforcement officer at the time of his death, is hereby appropriated, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, to the beneficiaries of Bradley Haas, a department of safety security officer for New Hampshire hospital, who was shot and killed while on duty at New Hampshire hospital on November 17, 2023.  The death benefit provided under this section shall be distributed by the state treasurer to the beneficiaries of Bradley Haas in the same manner and under the same terms and conditions as provided in RSA 21-I:29-a, II.  The governor is authorized to draw a warrant for said sum out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect June 30, 2024.

METHODOLOGY:

This bill appropriates $100,000 from the state general fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024 to the beneficiaries of Bradley Hass, a department of safety security officer for New Hampshire hospital, who was shot and killed while on duty at New Hampshire hospital on November 17, 2023.  State expenditures would increase as a result of the appropriation in FY 2024.
