STATEMENT
The Governor's Urban Scholarship Program, established by the Executive Branch in 2012, is a merit-based scholarship program that benefits students in certain economically-challenged communities designated by the Governor, including: Asbury Park; Camden; East Orange; Irvington Township; Jersey City; Lakewood; Millville; Newark; New Brunswick; Paterson; Plainfield; Roselle Borough; Trenton; and Vineland. This bill provides that the appropriation for the Governor's Urban Scholarship Program must also be used to provide awards to qualified students residing in Passaic, Perth Amboy, Union City, and West New York.
