     Exempts individuals with certain types of military service from certain professional and occupational fees and continuing education requirements.

An Act concerning certain exemptions to occupational and professional regulations for individuals with certain types of military service and supplementing P.L.1978, c.73 (C.45:1-14 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a professional or occupational board designated in section 2 of P.L.1978, c.73 (C.45:1-15) shall exempt, for a renewal cycle that falls within the period of service or within the 120 days following the completion of service, any licensee or registrant who has been called to federally funded active duty for more than 120 days for the purpose of serving in a war, emergency, or contingency from: (a) the payment of any professional or occupational license, certification, or registration fees, including any renewal fees; and (b) any continuing education or professional competency requirements.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately. 

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill exempts individuals with certain types of military service from certain professional and occupational fees and continuing education requirements.  Specifically, the bill provides that a professional or occupational board shall exempt, for a renewal cycle that falls within the period of service or within the 120 days following the completion of service, any licensee or registrant who has been called to federally funded active duty for more than 120 days for the purpose of serving in a war, emergency, or contingency from: (1) the payment of any professional or occupational license, certification, or registration fees, including any renewal fees; and (2) any continuing education or professional competency requirements.
