STATEMENT

This bill directs the Commissioner of Human Services to ensure that the reimbursement rates for non-emergency and emergency medical transportation services under the State Medicaid program, including any rates established by or paid through one or more entities under contract to Medicaid to serve as a single-source vendor to arrange for transportation services, shall not be less than the rates in effect on May 1, 2009 as set forth in N.J.A.C.10:50-2.2.

Earlier this year, the Medicaid program contracted with Logisticare Solutions LLC to serve as a single-source transportation broker for all eligible Medicaid recipients.  In addition to providing for livery services in certain counties, Logisticare would arrange for the provision of mobility assistance vehicle transportation, air transportation services, and basic life support and advance life support ground ambulance services for Medicaid recipients in all counties of the State.
