STATEMENT
In 2011, the State authorized boards of education to enter into contracts for the sale of advertising space on the exterior sides of school buses owned or leased by the school district.
This bill would authorize the State Treasurer to enter into contracts for the sale of advertising space on the exterior sides of motor vehicles own or leased by the State for the use and purposes of the Department of Corrections.
The bill prohibits advertisements for tobacco products, alcohol products, or political advocacy and any other advertisements for products, services, or by sponsors that the State Treasurer deems inappropriate.
Finally, the bill specifies that all moneys generated by these contracts be used exclusively by the State Treasurer to advertise, market, and promote the various tourist destinations, locations, and venues available in this State.
