SYNOPSIS
Prohibits public property from being named or renamed after person sooner than one year after person's death.

An Act concerning the naming of public property and supplementing Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes, Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes, and Title 52 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. No public property owned by a school district, or by an agency, board, commission or authority created by the school district, shall be named or renamed after a person sooner than one year after the person's death.
2. No public property, including buildings, roadways and bridges, owned by a county or municipality or other political subdivision of the State, or by an agency, board, commission or authority created by any of the foregoing, shall be named or renamed after a person sooner than one year after the person's death.
3. No public property, including buildings, roadways and bridges, owned by the State, or by a State agency, or by an agency, board, commission or authority created by the State, shall be named or renamed after a person sooner than one year after the person's death.
4. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill prohibits all State, county, and municipal public entities, and school districts, from naming or renaming any public property, including buildings, roadways and bridges, after a person sooner than one year after the person's death.
