SYNOPSIS
Provides that graduates of regional or consolidated high schools with constituent municipalities located in different counties are eligible for resident tuition rates at certain county colleges.

An Act concerning resident tuition rates at county colleges for certain high school graduates and supplementing chapter 64A of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. Notwithstanding any provision of law or regulation to the contrary, a student who graduates from a regional or consolidated high school comprised of constituent municipalities located in different counties shall be eligible to attend a county college located in any of those counties at a tuition rate equal to the amount charged to residents of the county in which the college is located.
b. In the case of a county college which enrolls a student who resides in another county pursuant to subsection a. of this section and which has a non-resident tuition rate that is higher than its resident tuition rate, the State shall reimburse the college for the difference between the non-resident tuition rate and the resident tuition rate.
c. The provisions of subsections a. and b. of this section shall only be applicable to a student who applies for admission to an eligible county college within one year of the date of graduation from the regional or consolidated high school.
d. The provisions of N.J.S.18A:64A-23 shall not apply to individuals who are eligible to attend a county college in accordance with subsection a. of this section.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that a student who graduates from a regional or consolidated high school comprised of constituent municipalities located in different counties will be eligible to attend a county college located in any of those counties at a tuition rate equal to the amount charged to residents of the county in which the college is located. In the case of a county college which enrolls a student who resides in another county pursuant to the bill and which has a non-resident tuition rate that is higher than its resident tuition rate, the State would reimburse the college for the difference between its non-resident tuition rate and its resident tuition rate.
The provisions of the bill would only be applicable to a student who applies for admission to an eligible county college within one year of the date of graduation from the regional or consolidated high school.
