SYNOPSIS
Authorizes municipalities to regulate Internet-organized events.
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
As reported by the Assembly State and Local Government Committee on January 19, 2017, with amendments.
An Act concerning events organized on the Internet and supplementing Title 40 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. A municipality may, by ordinance, establish a regulatory framework through which proprietors of commercial establishments within the municipality can participate in events jointly organized on the Internet.
b. The regulatory framework adopted pursuant to this section may include a registration fee based on the expected number of participants in the event. The total amount of the registration fees collected by a municipality under this section shall be no more than five dollars per 1[expected attendees] attendee1, collected equally from participating proprietors or in accordance with an arrangement agreed upon by participating proprietors. The regulations may also include financial penalties for a violation of the regulations.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
