SYNOPSIS
Establishes that volunteer firemen appointed to paid positions are not required to be recertified in certain instances.

An Act concerning firefighter training and supplementing Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Any volunteer fireman having served in a volunteer fire company or force who is thereafter appointed to a paid position within a paid or part-paid fire department or force or a fire district shall not be required to complete an initial firefighter training certification if that firefighter has satisfactorily completed the firefighter training certification within one year preceding the appointment to the paid position while acting as a volunteer.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill establishes that a volunteer fireman who is subsequently appointed to a paid or part-paid fire department or force is not required to complete an initial firefighter training certification if that firefighter completed the training certification within a year prior to the appointment to the paid position.
