SYNOPSIS
Requires school district transportation supervisor to conduct monthly school bus condition inspection of contractors' buses and check for valid school bus driver's license.

An Act concerning pupil transportation and supplementing chapter 39 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Each month in which students receive transportation services, the school transportation supervisor of a school district shall conduct:
a. A school bus condition inspection on each school bus assigned to the school district pursuant to a contract with a school bus contractor; and
b. A check of the valid driver's license of the school bus driver of that vehicle.
The inspection and check shall be conducted on school property.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the school district transportation supervisor to conduct a monthly school bus condition inspection on each school bus used to provide transportation services in the district pursuant to a contract with a school bus contractor. The bill would also require a monthly check to ensure that the drivers of these school buses possess a valid driver's license. The inspection and check will be conducted on school property.
