SYNOPSIS
Reserves certain hours at MVC locations for health care workers and first responders during COVID-19 public health emergency.

An Act reserving certain hours at New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission locations for health care workers and first responders during the Coronavirus disease 2019 public health emergency.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. During the public health emergency declared on March 9, 2020 by the Governor pursuant to Executive Order No. 103 and extended, where applicable, by subsequent executive orders, the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission shall reserve two hours each day, except for Sunday, to offer scheduled appointments and walk-in appointments for commission services exclusively for health care workers and first responders at all commission agency locations.
A person shall provide proof of current status as a health care worker or first responder, as determined by the chief administrator, in order to be eligible for a scheduled appointment and walk-in appointment for commission services during designated hours reserved for health care workers and first responders pursuant to this section.
2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire upon rescission by the Governor of Executive Order No. 103 of 2020 and any subsequent executive orders extending the public health emergency; or, in the absence of a rescission by the Governor, upon the termination in any other manner of the declared public health emergency.
STATEMENT
This bill requires that during the Coronavirus disease 2019 public health emergency, the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (commission) is required to reserve two hours each day, except for Sunday, to offer scheduled appointments and walk-in appointments for commission services exclusively for health care workers and first responders at all commission agency locations.
A person is required to provide proof of current status as a health care worker or first responder in order to be eligible for a scheduled appointment and walk-in appointment during hours reserved for health care workers and first responders.
