An Assembly Resolution declaring the General Assembly's support for New Jersey's sports teams and urging fans attending sporting events to patronize local businesses.
Whereas, New Jersey boasts some of the country's most competitive and exciting sports teams, including the Jets, Giants, Devils, Nets, and Red Bulls; and
Whereas, New Jersey is home to some of the finest sporting venues in the nation, from the recently opened New Meadowlands Stadium to the historic Monmouth Park Racetrack; and
Whereas, New Jersey's championship caliber sports teams and state of the art sporting venues are a great source of pride for all New Jerseyans; and
Whereas, The sports and entertainment industry also comprises a vital portion of New Jersey's economy and helps draw visitors to the State; and
Whereas, Patronage by fans attending New Jersey sports events of local businesses, restaurants and entertainment establishments can maximize the impact that New Jersey's sports and entertainment industry has on the State's economy; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House declares its support for New Jersey's sports teams and sporting venues and urges fans attending sporting events to patronize local businesses, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
2. Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested by the Clerk of the General Assembly, shall be transmitted to the New Meadowlands Stadium, the Prudential Center, the New Jersey Motorsports Park, the Red Bull Arena, the Monmouth Park Racetrack, and the Meadowlands Racetrack.
STATEMENT
This resolution declares the General Assembly's support for New Jersey's sports teams and sporting venues and urges fans attending sporting events to patronize local businesses, restaurants and entertainment establishments.
New Jersey has some of the best sports teams and finest sporting venues in the country. In addition to being a great source of pride for New Jerseyans, the sports and entertainment industry comprises a significant portion of the State's economy. The sports and entertainment industry also provides ancillary economic benefits by drawing visitors to the State, which increases the customer base in areas around sporting venues. Therefore, maximizing the economic impact produced by the sports and entertainment industry requires that fans attending sporting events patronize local businesses, restaurants and entertainment establishments.
