SYNOPSIS
Establishes "Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design."

An Assembly Resolution establishing the "Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design."
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. There is established the "Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design."
a. The committee shall consist of 12 members of the General Assembly as follows:
(1) six members appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly; and
(2) six members appointed by the Minority Leader of the General Assembly.
b. The members of the committee shall be appointed and the committee shall organize within 30 days after the effective date of this resolution. There shall be two co-chairpersons and two co-vice chairpersons of the committee. The Speaker of the General Assembly shall appoint a co-chairperson and a co-vice chairperson, and the Minority Leader of the General Assembly shall appoint a co-chairperson and a co-vice chairperson, all from among the committee's membership. The co-chairpersons may appoint a secretary, who need not be a member of the committee.
c. The committee may meet at the call of the co-chairpersons at the times and in the places the co-chairpersons may deem appropriate and necessary to fulfill the committee's duties. A majority of the authorized membership of the committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
d. It shall be the duty of the committee to review and consider any studies, court decisions, best practices, and any other relevant research, information, guidance, and expertise regarding the design of primary election and general election ballots which may be utilized in the conduct of elections in this State.
2. This Assembly Resolution shall take effect immediately and shall expire upon the conclusion of the select committee's work.
STATEMENT
This Assembly Resolution establishes the "Assembly Select Committee on Ballot Design."
The committee will consist of 12 members of the General Assembly. Six members will be appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and six members will be appointed by the Minority Leader of the General Assembly.
