An Assembly Resolution expressing support for the "Take a Veteran to School Day" program.
Whereas, "Take a Veteran to School Day" is a national program developed by the History Channel in 2007 to link veterans with students and communities nationwide; and
Whereas, Under the program, schools and communities invite veterans of all backgrounds to share their stories and receive thanks for their years of service; and
Whereas, The events provide a way for students to learn more about the history of Veterans Day and about the military experiences of veterans; and
Whereas, Inviting veterans to share their stories connects the generations while helping people learn about the past; and
Whereas, "Take a Veteran to School Day" helps people to more fully understand veterans and to thank them for their service, bravery and sacrifice to our country; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House supports the "Take a Veteran to School Day" program.
2. Authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly and attested to by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Adjutant General of the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs, the Secretary of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Congressional Delegation from New Jersey.
