Honors and salutes New Jersey Youth Corps.

An Assembly Resolution honoring and saluting the New Jersey Youth Corps.
Whereas, In November, 1984 the Legislature and Governor of this State enacted the "New Jersey Youth Corps Act," P.L.1984, c.198 (C.9:25-1 et seq.); and
Whereas, The General Assembly of this State is pleased to honor and salute the New Jersey Youth Corps, a highly esteemed organization, upon the auspicious occasion of the 28th anniversary of the program; and
Whereas, The New Jersey Youth Corps is known and respected as one of the largest youth service corps in the country; and
Whereas, The New Jersey Youth Corps is a year-round voluntary program which engages young adults in a full-time comprehensive program of community service, work-based learning, and academic instruction; and
Whereas, The young adults engaged in this worthwhile mission gain life skills that enhance their employability and their surrounding communities; and
Whereas, The young adults in New Jersey Youth Corps participate in personal and career counseling, as well as educational development through a comprehensive service-learning approach that provides each individual with the tools to meet their potential in life; and
Whereas, The New Jersey Youth Corps has been validated by the United States Department of Education as an effective, replicable program designed to meet critical needs; and
Whereas, The New Jersey Youth Corps has been recognized by the United States Department of Labor as one of the ten most effective youth programs; and
Whereas, The New Jersey Youth Corps has provided over 3,847,270 hours of community service to this State and its citizens at a value, in today's dollars, of over $96.9 million; and
Whereas, It is altogether fitting and proper for the General Assembly to praise the outstanding service that the New Jersey Youth Corps has provided to this State for the past 28 years; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved by the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. This House honors and salutes the New Jersey Youth Corps, pays tribute to its meritorious record of service, leadership, and commitment on behalf of the young people of this State for the past 28 years, and sincerely extends its best wishes for its continued success and vigor in the years ahead.
2. Duly authenticated copies of this resolution, signed by the Speaker of the General Assembly, and attested by the Clerk thereof, shall be transmitted to the Governor of this State and to the New Jersey Youth Corps.
STATEMENT
This resolution honors and salutes the New Jersey Youth Corps for its 28 years of commitment to the young people of this State. The New Jersey Youth Corps program was established upon enactment of the "New Jersey Youth Corps Act," P.L.1984, c.198 (C.9:25-1 et seq.). The New Jersey Youth Corps is known and respected as one of the largest youth service corps in the country.
Participants of the New Jersey Youth Corps gain life skills that enhance their employability and their surrounding communities. Young adults in the New Jersey Youth Corps participate in personal and career counseling, as well as educational development through a comprehensive service-learning approach that provides each individual with the tools to meet their potential in life.
The resolution acknowledges that the New Jersey Youth Corps has been validated by the United States Department of Education as an effective, replicable program designed to meet critical needs, and has been recognized by the United States Department of Labor as one of the ten most effective youth programs.
