SYNOPSIS
Requires MVC to check Social Security Administration records and mark deceased individuals in MVC database once per month.
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
As introduced.
An Act concerning the records of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission and supplementing Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission shall compare, not less than once per month, the commission's database records with the death records produced by the Social Security Administration and shall mark as deceased in the commission's database records any individual who is listed in those death records.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the Chief Administrator of the Motor Vehicle Commission (commission) to compare, not less than once per month, the commission's database records with the death records produced by the Social Security Administration and to mark as deceased in the commission's database any individual who is listed in those death records.
Currently, it appears that the commission periodically receives data from the Social Security Administration through the National Technical Information Service within the Department of Commerce. Under the bill, the commission would be required to subscribe to receive Social Security Administration data, at minimum, on a monthly basis.
