SYNOPSIS
Repeals restriction on weights and measures officers' and employees' duties.
CURRENT VERSION OF TEXT
Introduced Pending Technical Review by Legislative Counsel
An Act concerning weights and measures officers and employees and repealing R.S.51:1-46.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. R.S.51:1-46 is repealed.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill would repeal the statute which requires that officers and employees designated to enforce weights and measures laws and regulations to devote all their time to those duties.
Repealing this section would allow weights and measures personnel to perform other consumer affairs duties, and other consumer affairs personnel to be trained in weights and measures functions. This would allow for the cross-utilization of officers and employees, and provide for sufficient coverage of both roles with minimal staff.
