SYNOPSIS

     Requires COAH to promulgate rules and regulations providing for veterans' affordable housing assistance preference.

An Act concerning affordable housing for veterans and supplementing P.L.1985, c.222 (C.52:27D-301 et al.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  The Council on Affordable Housing, 1or its successor,1 in consultation with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, shall promulgate rules and regulations to provide a preference for veterans who qualify for affordable housing assistance and to hold harmless military personnel from any affordable housing application deadlines which may have lapsed during their period of deployment in active military service.

     b.  For purposes of this section, "veteran" means a "veteran" as defined under subsection (h) of section 1 of P.L.1963, c.171 (C.54:4-8.10).

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.
